Their Blood Runs in Us ; Mesach Bitama

Out of them our ancestral line was joined
Their unity gave us our Fathers and Mothers
And our Fathers, their sons and fathers
Into the world we were initiated
Mukaaka and Shwenkuru Bitama
Whose memories keep in our lives
Like they still were living

Nine Oh! Great months,
You carried us in your womb
And never regretted us being born to You
The filth, hardship and hard work
You endured, for our fathers and mothers
To get their education yet,
You yourselves had less of it all.
The money, the education, the prestige…….
Oh! If you only lived
To see how great we have become
My loving Mukaaka and Shwenkuru Bitama

A ship without a compass is bound to lose its way
You chose salvation and never lost your way
The key to success was in your hands.
As a Reverend and shepherd
You led soothingly the flock of Christ
Those advisory words
The loving words
Keep us together as a family
Like you said them only yesterday
The examples you set
The care you gave us
The knowledge you shared
Not even death-That Monster!
Can erase it from our hearts
Mukaaka and Shwenkuru Bitama
You forever will be with us.

We seem to feel your presence
Yet long gone
You departed from our eyes
Yet still living within our hearts
The beauty you left
We so joyfully share
In peace we lay you,
Where the sleepers never wake
A time will come when we
All shall meet again in peace
Mukaaka and Shwenkuru Bitama
Your love never ending
We miss you.

My better half knows the seed
And when Eleanor grows much bigger and older
I'll sing my ancestry close to her ears and soothe her cries with it
Kirego bore us
Gabashaki, who bore us
Bitama from whom
Kanyonyozi came and bore
Kuteisa whose rib you share.
The sweetness with which we sing.
Bring forth your past and let the present build greater.
Omusigyi, Omuhiiga, Omugagyi wa Kitanga.
Ours are the hills of Karukaata omuri Kigezi.
We miss you always and all shall meet again in peace.
